By Chrissi By Chrissi Beauty - Fashion - Health - Fitness - Travel Pages Home About me Disclaimer Saturday, 20 July 2013 Let's style monochrome! Sometimes we get caught in the trap of filling our wardrobes with white, black and grey items. You may resort to these colours by default, or by personal choice. When searching for inspiration, I find the monochrome style to be oh so gorg! The beauty about wearing a monochrome look is the simple yet powerful statement you can create. Using white, black and grey shades, in bold or basic patterns and multiple textures – you can create a very effective look. Here are a few items I love at the moment, which might give you a few ideas to try next time you get stuck. All of these items were sourced from ASOS (of course)! Remember, style shouldn’t be too much effort if you 1) give it a go and 2) wear your outfit with confidence! Basically my skin has hit a bit of a rut and I am struggling to find skincare products to work well on my skin. Lately I have been getting rashes from certain products, or really bad breakouts. I feel like some of the drug store products are very harsh on my skin, using a lot of chemicals, alcohols and perfumes - which use to work well on my skin but as I am getting older, everything seems to be reacting with my skin. Some organic skincare products can be very expensive and also don't cater as well for oily-combination skin (they use a lot of oil based ingredients therefore do not work well on oily skin). Anyway, that is when I came across the Lush brand online (and also found a store close to home). They have specific products for oily skin, free from animal testing and products from fresh organic ingredients including fruit and vegetables, essential oils and safe synthetics. I have only used these products for one week and have already noticed a significant improvement! My blemishes have decreased, my complexion is a lot more even in tone, my skin is softer and I am not getting near as much oil production as I was before using these products. I will check back after a month or so to let you know how I am going with these products. Overall I highly recommend checking out this product. Keep an open mind when using these products, they are quite different because they are natural, the texture, smell and recommended use can be a lot different to most commercialised products - but personally I love the uniqueness of Lush. You can visit the Lush website here - http://www.lush.com.au I bought the following (as pictured): Teat Tree Toner Water (used as a toner) Grease Lightning (a gel to reduce swelling of blemishes and prevent breakouts) 9 to 5 Cleanser (I use this to cleanse my face, including removing my makeup) Dark Angels (a cleansing facial scrub for dull oily skin) Enzymion Moisturiser (to make oily skin matte and radiant) - not pictured Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that I have recommended these products based on my personal experience and according to my skin type - please use my recommendations as a guide only, it is still important to speak to a professional when seeking the right product for your skin type. Here is a picture of the Dark Angels product (on my face) - it uses many natural ingredients such as charcoal, Rhassoul mud, sandalwood and black sugar! It's so fun to use! I thought I would provide more detail regarding the products I used and a quick step-by-step guide to achieve this look. I hope you enjoy :) Step 1 - Prime your eyelid! I used the Models Prefer Eye Primer. Step 2 - Cover your eyelid with a cream based eyeshadow, for this I used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk (a white colour - pictured right), blend with your fingertip over all of your eyelid (only from your crease and below). Step 3 - Using your fingertip, gently pat a pale pink eye shadow over the top (I used a Colour Disc by Napoleon Perdis in the colour Pink Corset - picture left). Step 4 - Take a dark purple/grey colour and place the colour on the outer corner of the eye (like a side ‘V’ shape), I think it is best to use a foam shadow applicator for this. Then take a blending brush and gently blend this colour through your crease (concentrating mainly on the outer corner of your eyelid) and blend with the existing shadow on the rest of your lid. I mixed Beauty Marked and Swelter from the MAC Temperature Rising Eye Shadow Quad (pictured below). Step 5 - Glitter time!! Take a small shadow brush and place into the MAC Glitter Brilliants in Pink (pictured above), then gently press onto your eyelid over the pink eyeshadow (keep applying until you get the desired amount on your eyelid). I also used my finger to place some extra glitter on the inner corners of my eye. Step 6 - Take a liquid eyeliner and create a fine wing starting from the mid eye towards the outer corner (with a subtle flick). I used the NYX The Curve Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner. Step 7 - Coat your lashes with Mascara (I recommend the L'Oreal Paris False Lash Telescopic Mascara (pictured above). Enjoy! Welcome back to my blog! Today I thought I would write about some of the recent products I picked up at my local drug store (Priceline). Some of these products have been recommended by other beauty bloggers, however some are also new things I spotted on the shelves. Apologies in advance for such a long post, but I really wanted to give feedback on each product - I hope you find it useful! Blush by Face of Australia in Shimmery Peach (this is similar to the NARS Orgasm which is a great blush but can be quite pricy in Australia) - the Face of Australia blush has a nice gold shimmery pigment with a peachy/pink undertone. Blush by Face of Australia in Hello Dolly - this blush is a gorgeous pale pink - great for a natural look or teamed up with a baby pink lip! Australis Blush in Cinnamon Frost - this is more of a bronzer, it is a really nice consistency and quite pigmented which is great (you only need a small amount on your brush)! Maybelline Eye Studio Hyper Diamonds Eyeshadow Palette in Emerald Diamonds (wow, longest name ever haha) - this is a really nice palette, perfect for a night out as well as using the lighter colours for a more subtle green/golden look - it is fairly pigmented which is also great. Face of Australia Body Instant Tanning Mousse - this is a really nice product and so affordable. I am a big fan of spray tans, but I can't get them every week, so this is what I use in between my spray tans to keep me tanned! I find that mousse products are the best. My all time favourite tanning mousse is the one by Napoleon Perdis - however this Face of Australia one is a great option for an affordable product (note: I recommend using a glove or tanning mitt when applying this product). LaurenBeautyy recommended this product which is why I thought I would try it :) Covergirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lip Gloss in Berry Splash - this products smells AMAZING! The consistency is really gorgeous too - I highly recommend this product. Rimmel London Lash Accelerator Endless in Black - Quite a good product, I still can't get over the Loreal Lash Telescopic Mascara.. but for something different this Rimmel one is also great! I am loving the fibre mascara's at the moment - so glad the more affordable brands got on board! I also got a free Rimmel London Scandaleyes Kohl Pencil with this mascara! Rimmel London Glam Eyes Liquid Eyeliner in Black - this liquid eyeliner has a super thin tip which makes it so much easier to get a nice fine cat eye. Really happy with this product. And last but certainly not least, the Modelsprefer 7.5 Double Sided LED Illuminated Mirror - I have been wanting a mirror like this one for so long and finally found the perfect one - only $39.95 at Priceline (which is pretty good because it has inbuilt LED lighting). The quality of the mirror is fantastic, very, very, happy with this product! Hello my lovelies! I found an awesome product this week which I want to share with you - I bought it from Priceline (in Australia) and it was approx. $9.95. It's a little mechanism to help you make your ponytail look thicker. As my hair is getting longer, I have noticed that it is getting slightly thinner - I love a full ponytail but can't always be bothered using hair extensions, this is seriously the perfect solution! It's called the Scunci Perfect Pony. I sourced a few pictures from the Scunci website, and have provided some quick instructions below... take a look! I hope you find this helpful. Step 1 - Part hair in the middle creating a half ponytail. Step 2 - Insert mechanism under half ponytail. Step 3 - Pull the rest of the hair into a full pony and fasten with an elastic band! My before and after shot - the difference is amazing!
